Chelsea heading for the double ?

Chelsea have been fantastic this season. They got beat by Arsenal, Conte changed his formation, and they never looked back. Their run in the middle 4/5th's of the season has been nothing short of spectacular. SPurs have been good, but have struggled to keep pace.

Average odds on the home win

Chelsea and Spurs would have made you money at home in the league this season (assume a constant 1 unit bet per game). Chelsea with 13 wins in 15 games, at an average win price of 5.8 to 10. Assume you bet 1 unit (whatever it is), on the home win, every Chelsea home game. Doing the math (13 x .58 = 7.54 less the 2 units bet on their losses), gives you a return of 5.54 units on a 15 unit investment. No complaints there, gives you a return of 5.54/15 which is 37%. Fantastic !

Tottenham have played 17 home games, winning 15 times, also at average odds of 5.8 to 10. So 15 X .58 is 8.7 less 2 units for the two draws gives you 6.7 /17 which is a return of 39.4%. Also fantastic.

Everton have played 17 home games, winning 12 times, also at average odds of 11.3 to 10. So 12 X 1.13 is 13.5 less 5 units (for draws/losses) gives you 8.5/17 which is a return of 50%.

However the best 1 unit bet every week on the home win in the EPL is .....

BURNLEY -- The most profitable home team for a 1 unit bet in the EPL

17 games, 10 wins at average odds of 2.65 is 26.5 units. Less 7 (for draws and losses) make 19.5 units on an investment of 17, for an incredible return of over 100%

Sam Allardyce - Greedy Genius

Crystal Palace to hammer Arsenal 3-0 and beat Liverpool and Chelsea away from home. 3 amazing wins and 9 points that no one expected ! Allardyce has a greedy nature, but the man knows his onions. Incredible man manager, who understands how to get the best out of the people that work for him.

Tips and Predictions

Leganes v Las Palmas

#2 Pick An interesting stat that jumps out is 1st half BTTS numbers for away teams. Las Palmas have been BTTS in the 1st half of an away game in 4 of their last 6 away games. This is the highest 1st half BTTS stat in Europe. Three of these 6 games have been over 2.5 goals in the 1st half. This is why they are the 2nd best pick this week for over 2.5 goals in a game.

Over 2.5 Goals - Odds 1.9

Chelsea v Southampton

#3 Pick Chelsea triumph over Spurs in the FA semi-final, and manage to keep Costa and Hazard reasonably fresh. Without midweek European games they have the freshest squad of the EPL top 8 teams. They have won 9 of their last 10 at home. Of these 10 games 8 games have gone over 2.5 goals. 5 of these 10 have been BTTS in the 1st half. Early goals open up games, and lead to more goals. Saints recent way league form suggests that they will get on the scoresheet, against a somewhat generous Chelsea defense.

Over 2.5 Goals - Odds 1.85

Arsenal v Leicester

What kind of reaction will Arsenal have to a really tough, extra time draining win over Man City ? How much (if anything) is left in the tank ? I think the 1.6 on offer for the Arsenal win is a terrible price, as there could easily be a letdown after a huge semi-final win. This is a Leicester team that will play without fear. They have been more than decent in recent weeks, and will give Arsenal problems here. The Leicester Double Chance (Leicester WIN or Leicester DRAW) at odds of 2.63 also looks a solid bet here.

Away Win - Odds 6.5
Away Double Chance - Odds 2.63

EPL Relegation run in

Hull changed the manager and showed some improvement. Leicester have been spectacular after firing Ranieri. Crystal Palace look safe under Allardyce. Sunderland continue to show nothing. David Moyes has been poor this season. He set expectation really low and has delivered.

Sunderlands remaining games

22-Apr Arsenal Sunderland
26-Apr Middlesbrough Sunderland
29-Apr Sunderland Bournemouth
6-May Hull City Sunderland
13-May Sunderland Swansea City
21-May Chelsea Sunderland

They show no improvement, no fight or ability to get themselves out of the mess they are in.
Middlesbrough also look doomed. They are just not scoring enough goals, and cannot win games.

22-Apr Bournemouth Middlesbrough
26-Apr Middlesbrough Sunderland
30-Apr Middlesbrough Manchester City
6-May Chelsea Middlesbrough
13-May Middlesbrough Southampton
21-May Liverpool Middlesbrough

It looks like Hull and Swansea are fighting to avaoid the last relegation spot. Crystal Palace look to have some momentum, while Burnley could be dragged back into the struggle. For me an 'outside chance' is where they may be able to pick up a minimum of a point. I think that Hull's 3 games at home against Middlesbrough, Watford and Sunderland are vital. They pick up 7 or more points here and Swansea will be relegated.

Hull Fixtures
22-Apr Hull City Watford (possible win)
29-Apr Southampton Hull City (outside chance)
6-May Hull City Sunderland (possibe win)
13-May C Palace Hull City (outside chance)
21-May Hull City Tottenham (lose)

Swansea have much tougher home games (Spurs, Stoke, Everton and WBA) than Hull. I don't expect them to get more than 4 points from these 4 games. Who are they going to beat ? Their survival will be determined by their away games against Watford and Sunderland. They need a win and a draw as a minimum from those two games.

Swansea Fixtures
22-Apr Swansea City Stoke City (possible win)
30-Apr Manchester Utd Swansea City (outside chance)
6-May Swansea City Everton (outside chance)
13-May Sunderland Swansea City (possible win)
21-May Swansea City West Bromwich (outside chance)

I give them an outside chance against Man United, who may be concentrating on the Europa League (depending on how results go).
